QUILT SHOW 2010  -  October 16-17, 2010

Dear Wayside Quilters,

Plans for our October quilt show are progressing nicely. Jane Harris and I are co-chairing this show, and are very grateful to the work done in the past by previous co-chairs and their guidance as we learn the ropes. The venue will once again be the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School cafeteria. Mark your calendars for the weekend of October 16-17, 2010.

We have confirmed 3 vendors, with verbal commitments from 2 others, and we hope you will be pleased with the selection. Several key committee positions have already been filled – thank you to those members who have agreed to help.

Without participation from all our members, the show would be an impossible task, and this is, after all, a guild show. The raffle quilt tickets are being printed and should be available soon.

Ideas for locations where we can show our quilt over the next few months are being discussed, but we welcome input from any member with an idea. This is a great way to promote our show, as well as to make some additional money from ticket sales, and we will need your help with this.

Consider giving a couple of hours of your time – it will be greatly appreciated. I hope work on your own quilts is progressing nicely, as well as any boutique items you may wish to offer.

Our challenge quilt ideas should provide some fun and interesting items to show, although I have no idea what I will be doing with my naked lady!!

  2010 QUILT SHOW Challenge

“HOUSES - The Roof Over Our Heads”

Will it be an igloo or a mud hut, a castle or a cape cod, a saltbox or a chalet? A yurt or a tree-house, a tepee or a tudor, a farmhouse, a lighthouse or a pueblo style adobe home?

Only your imagination will determine the style of house you would like to depict for the challenge to be displayed at our October 2010 Wayside Quilters Show.

Any interpretation of a house or houses - real or imaginary, practical or fanciful, your house, a dream house, a special house in your life; houses you have lived in; houses you have seen in your travels, wish you could see; wonder how anyone lives in, wish you could live in; one house or a whole collection.

The only three requirements are these - that it be no larger and no smaller than 24-inches square finished size (to fit the display stand); that it be a three layer “quilt” construction; and that it be finished at the edges with a binding.

Any techniques may be used and the piece may be traditional or contemporary, be pieced, appliquéd, fused, folded, contain photo/fabric transfers or be embellished!

It is always exciting to see how everyone interprets the theme, and it will be great to present another inspired group of challenge quilts for the show.
