WAYSIDE QUILTERS GUILD 2008 Quilt Show  -

2008 Quilt Show Photos

QUILT SHOW 2008

Dear Wayside Quilters,

Alice Vannerson of Concord (center) was the winner of the Wayside Quilters Guild 2008 raffle quilt, "Wayside Variations", on Oct. 19.  Also pictured with Alice and the quilt are (from left to right) Marianne Hatton, quilt show co-chair; Mary Leonard, raffle quilt co-chair; Alice; Jane Harris, raffle quilt co-chair and guild president; and Kristine Diederich, quilt show co-chair.

Words can hardly express how impressed we were with the quality and quantity of outstanding quilts that we had in our show, and we want to thank every participant for allowing us to borrow her work for the weekend.  Many people complimented us on how nice the show looked, but it had more to do with your work that anything else.  We are so proud of you, both in your quilts and in your volunteerism for the show.  This was our time to shine and we positively glowed!

If you hung a quilt in the show, we hope that you will be able to attend the Nov. 10 guild meeting when we will announce the Viewer's Choice winners.  In addition, each of our vendors voted for their favorite in a special category (that they chose) and provided prizes which will also be awarded at the meeting.  We will publish the winners' names in the December newsletter for all to see in case you are unable to join us on the 10th.

Your feedback and constructive criticism is most welcome as we prepare our show report for the guild.  We hope to leave a blueprint that will make the next show's chair(s)' job easier.

And speaking of the next show, we encourage guild members to think about it now, assuming we resume the every-two-year cycle.  There are things that require preparation a year or year and a half before showtime, so quilt show chairs should step forward soon to stay on track in their planning.  Don't worry, though, the "heavy lifting" does not start for some time after that!

We truly appreciate the help we received from so many members and husbands/sons/daughters/friends, etc.  And so many went above and beyond the call of duty.  It was evident in the quality of our show.  Hats off to you, we wouldn't have had a show without you!

Thank you to all our visitors, volunteers, vendors and friends for a fun and successful quilt show on Oct. 18 & 19 at Lincoln-Sudbury High School in Sudbury. We had a steady stream of visitors all weekend -- approximately 400 people! - and received a great deal of positive feedback.

We welcome your thoughts and suggestions at info@waysidequilters.org. Please check back to the website often as we plan for our next show in October 2010!

Our very best,

Marianne and Kristine

These are the results of the ballot for the 2008 WQ Quilt Show.  Thanks to everyone who took the time to consider the quilts and give  them your votes; thanks to each of the vendors who donated prizes for  the quilts chosen for their specific categories; and congratulations  to all the winners.
