WAYSIDE QUILTERS GUILD 2008 Quilt Show Information - Quilt Entry Form & Volunteer Form Entry forms are DUE on or before September 15, 2008 If you have a quilt in the show, you must work at least 3 hours Muslin Bags...instructions here This year we are requiring that all quilts be delivered for the show in a muslin bag. This is new, and we are doing this as you will be delivering your quilts to a location other than the school where the show will be held, the day before they are to be hung. In order that they can be more easily transported to the show location, and that once there they can be placed in the spot that they will be displayed, we have determined this to be the best way to accomplish this. The good thing is that once made you will be able to re-use the bags for future shows, and they really are very quick and easy to make. Please note that the only exception is the ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’ Challenge Quilts which will not require a muslin bag. QUILT SHOW 2008 Dear visitor, Our fall quilt show will be held October 18 & 19, 2008, at the Lincoln- Sudbury Regional High School, 390 Lincoln St., Sudbury, MA., which is newly renovated, handicapped accessible, sunny and open. We have a beautiful raffle quilt ready to go thanks to Jane Harris and Mary Leonard. We have a challenge quilt theme for members - "Everything's Coming up Roses". We will have ample room for our members' beautiful creations along with a boutique run by the guild, several vendors, a refreshments area, demonstrations by vendors and guild members throughout the weekend, and more. Admission will be $5, and raffle tickets for the quilt will cost $1 each or 6 for $5. Fall is our showcase season in New England, and we can (almost) guarantee stunning foliage along with beautiful quilts! We welcome your visit to our show. If you should have any questions or need further information, please e-mail info@waysidequilters.org Thank you for visiting! Marianne Hatton and Kristine Diederich, Quilt Show co-chairs
QUILT SHOW 2008 CHALLENGE "EVERYTHING'S COMING UP ROSES" The idea for the challenge came after seeing a photograph of a large installation at a Japanese quilt show. The theme was sunflowers, and the size of the quilts was consistent, making for a spectacular display. Our show is much smaller than the one which inspired us, but our display could be just as lovely. We have picked 24 inches as the finished size for the challenge quilts - no bigger and no smaller please! The only direction is the theme - roses. You can piece them, appliqué them, embroider and embellish them, make one or make many, make them three dimensional, traditional or contemporary or a combination of techniques, They can be sweet or they can be thorny, and we hope to be able to practically be able to smell them as we get near the display! The guild library has been seeking and making available books to give you ideas, and there is a tri-fold board with a number of pictures to hopefully spark your interest and inspire your creativity. Do look for both at the upcoming guild meeting. In order to be part of the challenge, your quilt must conform to the 24 inch by 24 inch size, and be a completed piece with a backing and finished edges. The most important requirement is that you have fun. Perhaps you will try a new technique or perhaps do that which you do best already. We think the results will be a feast for the eyes and can't wait to see what you will do with it. We hope that with this much lead time to see an entry from everyone! Please feel free to contact us if anything isn't clear. Thanks! Marianne and Kristine |
