Uglies Auction

So, you've found the guild and now you want to know what an "Uglies Auction" is. This annual event is a well attended and highly enjoyable auction.

How it Works - Held in April

Each participant of the auction is encouraged to bring in a donation to the auction as the cost of participation. Your donation can be 1 yard of fabric, quilting or sewing supplies, unfinished projects, panels, completed tops, or unique/hard to find books, NO magazines. The items received will be sorted and bundled up into collections and put up for bid. The highest bidder wins. At the end of the auction you simply pay for your purchases and take home the new additions to your stash. Items not sold are considered to have been "donated" to the guild and will be used in future raffles or outreach work.

So why is it "Uglies"? Well most people donate items from their stash that they have either decided they think are ugly or they simply can't see themselves ever using. In most cases people have simply said "What was I thinking?". BUT, one persons ugly is another persons special find!

Preparing for the Auction

If you can package up your fabric donations into bundles that go together in some way (all one color family, from a single fabric collection....) and put a label on each stating how it is bundled and a rough estimate of what's in the bundle (yardage, notions...), this will speed the setup process before the auction.

For notions if you can put them into a labeled baggie or something so that they can be packaged with other items that will simplify setup and help us from losing parts.
